5 Ways to Make 2017 An Awesome Year

Look what we have here, the beginning of new era of being great, distinguished and eminent. The year 2017! May this year be good to you; may all your weight loss aspirations be fulfilled and may God motivate you to indulge less in office gossip. How are the new resolutions? Have you managed to hold them up throughout the month of January? Probably not, mainly because the general festivities of the new year have worn out and that massive void is slowly creeping back. Maybe the monotony of life, lack of enthusiasm and the overall state of affairs in the country are a tad bit disheartening. These resolutions seldom make it this far but I will let you in on how to make this year awesome with five simple but effective ways.

  1. Mind Your Business

Let’s start by refraining from meddling in people’s closets, shall we? Nobody died from minding their own business. Here lies Marge, who inadvertently died from minding her own darn business. May her squeaky-clean nose rest in peace. How about that for laughs, now why burden yourself with matters that do not concern you? I could walk on a tight rope and say get a life. BEEP! BEEP! I would hate to set off the rude and inappropriate alarm. Minding one’s business is a form of detoxing the mind and setting the spirit free. Meddling involves unnecessary headaches, confrontations and fights. Pull up that chic, carry yourself in an impressively complex and educated manner. It adds character and demands respect. These straits will catapult you to places where champions belong. It’s easier to focus and put energy on things that really matter. However, there is a distinct difference between minding one’s business and turning a blind eye to a damaging situation. For instance, a child physically abused by an intoxicated parent. Claiming that you are minding your business by ignoring the screams and thuds of a child being beaten is Satanism. You have turned a blind eye thus you lack any sort of discrepancy with the abuser. A godly intervention is hardly meddling. Just don’t go about spilling tea and being messy. The peace and serenity of minding your own is amazing.

  1. Be an Early Bird

You know what they say about the early bird. There is an aura of winning in simply waking up early and catching that lungful of fresh morning air. It’s a head start to a productive day. If you are that person who has trouble with waking up early or always running late, you might try and make this your lifestyle. Once your day starts early, it’s a smooth sail to achieving those goals one day at a time and a sure road to success. This year 2017 be that person who rises, arrives or acts before the usual time. Being early connotes volumes of positives; professional, disciplined, dedicated, organized, reliable, principled and integral. The list is endless. Generally being late is extremely likely to have unfortunate consequences. Being early gives you time to prepare, orient, be mentally ahead and confident in all your ventures.

  1. Work Hard. Play Hard

All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. Have a work ethic that will preserve your sanity. Adopt the principle that hard work is intrinsically virtuous at the same time, extreme fun is worth the reward. Work like a Trojan and play like the second coming is tomorrow. Work should never deprive you of a social life, happiness and the precious unobtainable serendipities. A certain balance is required so you can clear your mind, and relinquish in an oasis of serenity amidst the buzzing busy. It’s a mantra that improves your general mood, reenergizes, and makes remarkable achievements at the same time. Once you find that balance you have won at this life thing. Come fetch your Grammy.

  1. Take Advantage of Social Media

We are living in an age of digitalization as social media holograms a global spotlight. Anyone can be anything they want to be on these platforms. It’s important that you present yourself in an authoritative manner so that you make your presence known. Your social media voice should be valued without any moral dilemmas. I am not saying conform with generally accepted standards but appropriately position yourself for opportunities; without as much border lining to catfishing. Be true, be yourself and most importantly be strategic. Create a LinkedIn account for the professional touch on social media, tweak it for search engine optimization so that you are easily found by relevant business opportunities and job offers. Stay in the loop of everything that is going on in the world from Twitter to Facebook. Social media has proved to be the mother board of digital marketing. Take advantage of these platforms to make your product or service known. With the emergence of blogging you can edify yourself by presenting your interests in detailed manner. Your product or service can be show cased on Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook Live (seemingly putting YouTube out of business), podcasts and vlogs. You have a voice and a profile that speaks for you even in your sleep. Put on your tutu, ballerina pumps and twirl on these platforms. That figure 8 spin my actual translate to figures of real dollars. You never know, your future spouse is posted behind those cyber walls. So, presentation is vital, if you need to do an online sweep of your persona. It is never too late to start afresh and do a clean-up. That is what 2017 is all about. Also, what is social media without laughs, the humor is never ending, enjoy it, share it and get connected.

  1. Let Go of The Bitterness

Lastly, let go of all the pent-up anger and grudges that you have been nursing for quite some time. People may have wronged you in the past, conflicts and arguments that still hold anger and acrimony. Just breathe, close your eyes and whisper, I forgive you. You are doing this for you, because bitterness tends to eat you up inside as a result you are always hurting, resentful and vindictive. To be honest no one wants to hang around such negative energy. It’s not as simple as it sounds but holding on to stuff steals your happiness. If you need to text the person, do it let them know how you feel, tell them you have forgiven them, walk away and never look back. Put all that baggage in a coffin and wrap it with a bow. Once you have jumped that hurdle, it is happy go sunshine! Live and let live. Live and let live.

Here is to a wonderful 2017. Be a better you and mostly upgrade yourself every single day!
