4years A Blogger!

I am celebrating four years of blogging! Whoa, four years…imagine that. My actual blogvesary is 13 May but at that time I was incognito. So i just thought, this beautiful Saturday feels like a perfect day to celebrate my journey as a blogger.

I started blogging on blogspot because it wass so easy and user friendly. I had no idea of what I was doing but eventually I got the hang of it. Using Blogger was thee biggest mistake I have ever made, worse than the time I shaved half of my head and went about looking like Goro from Mortal Kombat. Looking like I escaped from planet of the apes. Looking like Lara Croft’s evil step sister. Looking like the Terminator’s side chick. Okay, okay being on blogger felt like I was stranded on an island. Alone. There was no sense of community at all, well at least in my experience!

My views were pretty awesome if you value 11k over a period of 3years. The following not so great, zero interaction not to mention my comment section was frozen so people couldn’t comment! My die hard readers would comment via email. It was a mess. As a writer, I grew and I deleted my not so awesome rooky blogs. Which was another dumb move! I should have kept those so you could see how I grew as a blogger. Blogspot felt like MySpace to be honest. While everyone was wildling on WordPress I was stuck on Blogger lonely island. So 2016 I set blogging goals My 2016 Blogging Goals and one of them was to leave Blogger for the new babe, WordPress.

My migration from Blogger to WordPress has been the greatest decision ever! Goodbye Blogspot! Hello WordPress The community is amazing. I have been on WordPress for 6 months and i have toppled over my 3years on blogger with 12.5 Views! 8k visitors and 254 followers. My most popular blogs did a bang up job of stupendously boosting my stats. 5 Ways On How To Keep A Man ,  The Portal to Satans Lair , Dambudzo , 5 Facts about the Scramble to Eritrea That Zimbabwean Men Should know and other fictional pieces. Blogging has been amazing ever since. I have found my voice and I love it! But nothing compares to the love that I have for my precioooousssssss  followers. 254 wonderful human beings. You have no idea how much you mean to me. Every night before I sleep I close my lap top ever so gently because I don’t want to squish you guys. You are my ying yang *sob* Group hug guys *sob*

So I have been doing a lot of writing. I am writing a book that I blog on here almost on a daily. The genre is biblical fantasy seeing that fiction is my muse. Its called ‘Fallen’ please do check it out! I am also writing another book called ‘ The diary of a Dead Girl’ I think its amazing as well. I can finally say I have become my own, as a blogger, as a writer..I think I am kicking major ass and loving it! Happy blogvesary to Makaitah Rogue! Cheers to all the bloggers out there. Be yourself, be consistent and keep slaying!

  1. Congrats! I tried blogspot for a project once and didn’t like it at all! 🙂 Can I ask, where do you get your views from if not your followers? Are you published somewhere or how do people find your blog? Or maybe you have 20 000 Facebook friends?? Just asking because I’m interested in getting more viewers for my blog. I do get lots of comments, likes and follows, but my views are still quite low.

    1. Thank you! I share my blog on all my social media platforms. I have 3.5k twitter followers, 5k Facebook and I have a Facebook page for my blog with 1.3k followers. I also share my blogs in blogger facebook groups and pages also when I share on twitter I tag the accounts of bloggers associations. I pretty much spread my blogs like an STD 😀😀

  2. Congratulations! I agree with you that WordPress has much more sense of community than does Blogger. I also dont like the use of Captcha on Blogger (the puzzles you have to solve prior to posting). I like the WordPress system which prevents spam but doesnt employ fiddly Captcha which many people struggle to solve! Kevin

  3. Terminators side chick 😂😂. You just described how I felt using blogger, stranded on a lonely island is the perfect words. Yes you shouldn’t have deleted, you should have imported to WordPress, that’s what I did last August and its been amazing ever since. Being part of the #WordPress community is so awesome, I can’t count how many friends I have indoctrinated, I opened an account for a wonderful photography friend just few hours ago because I wanted him to feel the love in the community I believe he is missing out on. Well done again. Did I mention, I even tried hubpages? And a host of others. None compares to @WordPress 🔝💯💕

      1. hahaha! our people don’t usually appreciate this art form much…I think ’cause they feel it hampers with reality…but you’re right, we should, its one way to increase awareness…btw I like how you write about self-empowerment, not much of that these days…i’m more centered on being afrocentric lol Black power!
